چکیده

Abstract Introduction Evaluation of the use contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in patients with abdominal trauma. Methods Retrospective study grade III or higher trauma, according to American Association Surgical (AAST) severity scale. All underwent an initial CT scan, mode B before discharge and a second-generation one month after trauma (contrast dose=0.03 ml/kg). Results From January 2017 December 2021, total 36 (2–15 years) were collected. 18 hepatic, 8 splenic, renal 2 pancreatic traumas. Of these, required urgent embolization due active bleeding pseudoaneurysm 1 patient surgical intervention. CEUS at showed: complete resolution 22 patients, residual hematomas, urinoma devascularized area, 3 pseudoaneurysms, 7 persistence lacerations resolved weeks cysts. Conclusions allows evaluation parenchymal injuries organs, as well presence bleeding, urinomas and/or areas, therefore, it can be useful tool for follow-up monitoring The absence irradiation its great accessibility allow repeated often desired; confirmation enables earlier return daily life.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound in abdominal trauma.

Increasing evidence supports a role for contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the assessment of blunt abdominal trauma. Accurate definition of organ injury can be demonstrated, as well as extension to solid organ capsule and even vascular injury. Low-dose contrast is needed for renal imaging, to avoid obscuration of deeper structures from intense cortical enhancement. The liver should be evaluated in...

Contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in blunt abdominal trauma

In the assessment of polytrauma patient, an accurate diagnostic study protocol with high sensitivity and specificity is necessary. Computed Tomography (CT) is the standard reference in the emergency for evaluating the patients with abdominal trauma. Ultrasonography (US) has a high sensitivity in detecting free fluid in the peritoneum, but it does not show as much sensitivity for traumatic paren...

Contrast enhanced ultrasound in abdominal trauma– a level one trauma centre experience

Contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is now established and widely used in many clinical settings outside the licensed areas of hepatic, breast, cardiac and vascular applications. The use of CEUS in acute blunt abdominal trauma has been shown to be rapid, safe, cost-effective, diagnostically accurate and, although lacking the global imaging capabilities of computed tomography (CT), CEUS has no r...
